Optional Planter Version
If you want to give your robot a second life, it’s easy! Simply fill the finished robot with potting soil and add a small plant or seeds. This makes it a fun way to introduce kids to plant care and responsibility, while keeping the recycled materials theme going.
Kids love choosing their plants—succulents, herbs, or small flowers all work great—and watching their robot “come to life” as the plant grows. But remember, making it a planter is totally optional—these robots are just as fun to play with on their own!

Clean out tin cans and remove labels. Use a safety can opener to ensure the edges are smooth and safe for kids. - Design your robot
Invite kids to plan their robot—Will it be silly, friendly, or futuristic? Lay out recycled materials and let them choose pieces for eyes, arms, and details. - Decorate the can
