Kids will have fun making a Sea Animal ocean craft using the FREE template and easy directions. Animals include a whale, dolphin, fish, and shark
We have been learning about the Ocean which fits perfectly with this month’s Kids Crafts Stars theme–to create a new ocean themed kids craft. I wanted to come up with something simple and beautiful that reminded me of looking at the ocean. We used coffee filters and cut out animal silhouettes like a dolphin, shark, whale, and fish to make colorful suncatchers to hang on our window. I have a free pattern included in this post so you can easily make one too!
Don’t forget to check out all of the adorable Kids Craft Stars Ocean crafts listed at the bottom of this post. You can also follow the Kids Craft Stars on Pinterest and Instagram to make sure you catch all the kids crafts the whole team comes up with! Just in case you missed it, previous themes have been Recycled CD Crafts and Children’s Book Themed Crafts.

1. Have your child paint their coffee filter and set it out to dry. The darker the paint the better because it does tend to lighten as it dries.
2. Print out the animal pattern on dark blue or black paper and have your kiddo cut them out.
I printed our pattern on black paper and I was able to see the lines well enough to cut the animals out for Little Dragon. Little Tiger said she couldn’t see them very well so I printed her pattern on dark blue paper.
3. Glue the animal to the coffee filter and the craft is done!
This is Little Dragon’s coffee filter that he crumpled up before it dried. He thought it was tons of fun squeezing it and watching the water and paint drip out of it đŸ™‚
