Kids can make a Snowman snow globe craft with our clever way of turning a recycled bottle into an adorable craft using our latest favorite winter themed sensory supply. Each snowman snowglobe will look so cute and your kids will love shaking them up and swirling them around to watch the “snow” inside swirl around in a memorizing snow storm just like a regular snow globe!

We tried making a snow sensory bottle before with styrofoam balls but that turned out to be a disappointment because the styrofoam balls where so light they just floated up even after adding thickeners to the water like hair gel. That’s when I found our favorite new winter themed sensory supply on Amazon (don’t you just love Amazon–just sayin’)… it is White Water Beads-affiliate link. I know most of you have already played with water beads, but I’m guessing at least some of you where unaware that they come in white like I was. Once they are expanded they look just like white snowballs! I even stuck some in the fridge and let the kids play with them for a winter sensory activity.
Now it took awhile to find the right bottle for this activity. I have tons of plastic ornaments but I needed something that could hold water so I searched the stores and found these Martinelli’s Apple Juice Plastic Bottles-affiliate link at a Kroger store for $1.00 a piece. Not bad for a craft supply that also some of the most delicious apple juice ever to drink too!

Directions

Cut a rectangle and square out of the black craft foam. Glue the rectangle to the bottom of the square to make a hat. Add stickers to hat to decorate (optional–but so cute!).
Cut a triangle out of the orange craft foam for the nose.
Glue the nose and hat to the Martinelli’s bottle. There is a spot on the bottle where there is a little writing, we used that spot for our nose.
Glue large googly eyes on.
Use a permanent marker to draw a mouth.
Put water beads in the bottle. We didn’t fill the bottle full because we wanted there to be room for the water beads to swirl around. To add the water we used our Squirters from our Fine Motor Tool Set-affiliate link
Screw the lid on tight. You may want to seal it closed with super glue (not school glue).
Now the Snowman Snow Globe is ready to be swirled around. My kids love playing with theirs and making it snow and singing “Frosty the Snowman.” I hope your kiddos enjoy them all season!
