Easter is the perfect time to combine creativity, recycling, and hands-on fun with kids, and this Stained Glass Easter Eggs Milk Carton Craft checks all the boxes! Using simple materials like recycled milk cartons, tissue paper, and glue, kids can make bright, colorful “stained glass” eggs that look beautiful in windows or as part of your spring décor. This craft is not only easy and affordable, but it also encourages kids to explore colors, patterns, and their artistic side while giving new life to materials that would otherwise be thrown away.

I love Recycled Crafts and colorful Easter eggs, so I can’t tell you how excited I am to share with you our Stained Glass Easter Egg craft that we made this weekend using plastic milk jugs. They don’t take long to make (my kind of craft), and they look beautiful hanging in our window. The colors of our eggs brighten up our room when the sun hits them right.

Looking for fun and creative ways to upcycle milk jugs this Easter? Try making a Milk Carton Easter Basket Kids Craft to hold all your treats, or a cheerful Butterfly Craft for Kids that is fun and easy to make with recycled milk jugs. You can also create an adorable Milk Jug Bunny Craft, perfect for little hands and Easter celebrations. These crafts are a great way to combine recycling, art, and holiday fun while keeping kids engaged this spring.

Stained Glass Easter Egg Craft

Supplies:

  • Empty and cleaned plastic milk jugs
  • Permanent markers
  • Egg stencil (I made a large stencil and a small stencil out of cardstock)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Fishing line/string

Directions:

Stained Glass Easter Egg Craft

1. Trace and cut your eggs.
Use the egg stencil to trace as many eggs as you can onto the flat parts of the milk carton. (I was able to fit about 9 eggs on one jug!) Carefully cut them out. The trickiest part is cutting through the mouth of the jug — but once you get your scissors started, the rest is smooth sailing.

2. Decorate your “stained glass” eggs.
Grab your permanent markers and start designing! Add bright colors, stripes, polka dots, zigzags — whatever you like. The marker might feel a little sticky at first, but don’t worry — it will dry quickly.

3. Hang up your masterpiece.
Cut a piece of fishing line (or string), tape your eggs to it, and hang your colorful creation in a sunny window. Watch the light shine through your beautiful stained glass Easter eggs!
