With Spring right around the corner, now is a great time to grab the kids and learn about bees, and all the new life that’s going to be buzzing, chirping, and growing around us.
And what’s more Spring than buzzing bumblebees flying around from flower to flower while spreading pollen as they go… Kids have a natural curiosity about the things they see, so naturally, children wonder about bees. This activity pack will give you the opportunity to introduce young children to the life of a bee, while also including other fun printable activities, and a bee video to show them bees in nature.
Why Teach Kids About Bees?
Teaching kids about bees is such a great idea for a variety of reasons.
First of all, bees are such a critical part of plant life . . . which means they play a vital role in keeping us alive, even if we don’t give much thought to it. Once kids understand how important bees are, they will have a deeper respect for them. They may even grow to become passionate about them. Who knows, they may decide to become beekeepers when they grow up!
Secondly, teaching them about bees and how they behave might even help alleviate any fears your kids might harbor about bees —especially if they’ve been stung by a bee, wasp, or hornet in the past.
Last, but not least, teaching them about bees may actually inspire them . . . after all, bees are known for being hard workers and for being very community-oriented. They’re all about working together to get the job done. And they’re pretty brilliant little engineers!
