Kids can proudly wave their American Flag after making this fun and easy popsicle stick craft. I have included a free template to keep things simple for you and your kiddos (no need to draw 50 stars!). The template includes a glue-on popsicle stick design and a blue rectangle with 50 stars.
Once created, this craft would look perfect in a flower pot or vase to decorate for the 4th of July.
As we crafted we talked about the history of the American flag and the reason for the 50 stars and 13 stripes. Our craft does not have 13 stripes but you could always adjust the craft to make a more accurate depiction of our nations flag. We suggest using plain popsicle sticks, painting them white, and then gluing on strips of red paper.
However your kids decide to make their flag, when they are completed they look adorable in a table decoration, flower pot, or add some string and hang it on the wall.

DIRECTIONS:
Craft along with us and watch our video tutorial or continue reading below 🙂
Print out the flag template. I like to use white cardstock paper (affiliate link) because it is thicker and works better with crafts that need glue.
We painted 3 plain popsicle sticks to make them white and then we used already Colored Wood Craft Popsicle Sticks (affiliate link) for the red and blue ones. If you only have plain popsicle sticks just paint them to make them red and blue.
Have your child cut out the popsicle stick template and glue their red and white popsicle sticks to it. We started with the color red, and then made a pattern with the two colors.
Have your child cut out the blue rectangle with the stars and and glue it to the upper left corner of their popsicle sticks.
Optional: Have your child glue their blue popsicle stick to the left side of their flag to make a flag pole.
Have a Happy 4th of July!
