Make an adorable LOVE BUG craft for Valentines with our easy directions. Fill it with treats, flowers, or other goodies to keep or give away.

I have a really cute Love Bug craft to share with you today that is easy to make and fun to fill with Valentine’s Day goodies for the kids. You know I love using things around the house to upcycle in a kid craft kind of way, so this love bug is made out of a tin can. You can let the kids get creative and design their own bug, or pass them out on Valentine’s Day. Whatever you do, they are sure to put a smile on your kiddos face so let’s get started… 🙂

Tin Can Love Bug

Supplies:
2 Googly eyes
Red craft paper
Black craft paper
Empty tin can
Tape
Craft glue
Scissors
Heart stickers or cut out paper hearts
Ruler
1 Pipe Cleaner
Stapler (optional)

Directions:
1.  Measure your tin can, cut out a piece of black paper, and wrap it around the tin can and secure with glue or tape. I used the short side of my paper and it wasn’t long enough so make sure to use the long edge.

2.  Cut out two strips of red paper and wrap it around the tin can and secure with glue or tape.

3.  Cut out wings and secure them to the back of the can with glue or tape.

4.  Decorate your bug with googly eyes, pipe cleaner antennas, and heart sticker spots. We used glue for the googly eyes and a stapler to connect the hearts to the top of the pipe cleaners (you could probably glue two hearts together at the top, but I don’t have patience to wait for things to dry).

To use as a Valentine’s Day treat holder I recommend stuffing the bottom with tissue paper so you don’t have to reach all the way down in the tin can.

  1. This is darling! I like the way you made it into a candy container – one big enough for even little gifts. I'm all set with ideas this year but pinned it for next. Thank you!

    1. Hi J, I am so glad you like it. Thanks for the sweet comment and pin. I hope you have a great day!
