Kids will have fun making a shamrock filled with rainbow colors using our free craft template, tissue paper, and creativity. It’s a perfect craft activity for kids to make this St. Patrick’s Day.
Looking for a cute St. Patrick’s Day craft? We have it for you and your kids are going to love it. Our free Shamrock Craft Template includes adorable heart cut outs for kids to fill and show off their St. Patrick’s Day joy. It’s easy enough for young kids to make (my toddler had a blast with the tissue paper), and fun to make for older kids because they can create patterns to replicate stained glass. Once the craft is done it looks so pretty hanging on the wall or on a window that lets the light shine through it and makes the colors glow (just like real stained glass).

The craft template includes a 3 leaf template and a 4 leaf template for those of you who want to make a lucky 4 leaf clover.
Here is Little Puppy decorating his first St. Patrick’s Day craft. He LOVED the tissue paper so much! As you can see he stuck handfuls of tissue paper onto his craft. It felt like we had a party when he was all done. Next time I will give him a smaller pile of tissue paper-haha.
Here he is admiring his work. He loves pointing to his shamrock now it is hanging on the window.
My two older kids (Little Dragon, age 7 and Little Tiger, age 9) liked taking their time to stick each individual piece of tissue paper onto their shamrock.
Little Tiger even decided to cut out her own design instead of use the heart template. Feel free to let your kids add their own touches of creativity. The results are always perfect!
Here is just a little peek of what your kiddos craft will look like when hanging on a window. I held this shamrock up to the light in our craft room. Isn’t it pretty and colorful? Now let’s get crafting.

Print the template on green paper.
Poke a hole in the center of each heart and carefully cut them out. Children may need help doing this step.
Cut out a piece of contact paper the same size as the shamrock. Decide which method to use:
Younger kids:
Peel the backing off the contact paper. Clip the top to a clipboard and secure the bottom with a piece of tape. If you don’t have a clipboard you can tape it to the table, sticky side up.
Let children stick pieces of tissue paper to the contact paper. When they are done decorating, stick the sticky part to the back of the shamrock.
Staple the contact paper to the shamrock. Cut out the shamrock and hang up to display.
Older kids:
Peel the backing off the contact paper and stick it to the back of the shamrock.
Let children stick pieces of tissue paper to the contact paper. Have them carefully tuck the pieces of contact paper under the edges of the shamrock.
When they are done cut out along the outside edge of the shamrock. If the contact paper is not sticky enough to adhere to the shamrock, staple it together. Hang it up to display and have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
