This reindeer Christmas craft is easy to make using a brown paper bag, printable craft template, and step-by-step instructions.
Before Santa comes, make a paper bag reindeer craft to have happy holidays with your little “deers.” Children will have fun Christmas crafting as they decorate their paper bag with colored paper to make a reindeer puppet, reindeer gift bag, or reindeer decoration. The template makes it easy to make Rudolph, Dasher, Prance and the whole reindeer gang. The adorable paper bag reindeer is such a fun Christmas craft to make that can be used for so many things! Kids can color, cut, and glue the printable template to give their paper bag reindeer its own Christmas look. They can decide if their reindeer gets a red nose like Rudolph, or a brown nose like the rest of the gang.

Why Craft with Paper Bags?
Paper bags are fun to craft with because when they are opened up they are 3D, so whatever you are making can stand up on its own or the paper bag craft can be glued to the bottom side of the bag to make paper bag puppet. Another fun option is to use the bag like it was intended and fill it with party favors, treats, and other things. I LOVE it when one template has so many options for you.
Paper Bag Reindeer

Supplies:
- Reindeer Template and Directions
- Paper Bag-Lunch Size (Brown)
- Colored Craft Paper
- Tan Paper
- Brown paper
- Markers
- Scissors
- Craft Glue
- Stapler
- Optional: Filling for paper bag (Holiday treats, reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer, tissue paper, or other recycled material)
Directions:
Printable Directions are Included with the Template Download.
Print the Reindeer template out.
- Mouth, Tummy, Antlers-tan paper
- Head and Legs-dark brown paper
Optional: Print the template out on white paper and let your child color the template with markers, colored pencils, or crayons for added creativity.
Fill your paper bag.
- Puppet: Skip this step.
Fold the top of the paper bag down about 3 inches to make a rectangle and staple it at the top so it stays closed. I also like to push the sides of the paper bag inwards along the fold.
- Puppet: Skip this step.
Use the markers to decorate the Reindeer face and the inner ear part.
- If you are making Rudolph, color the nose red.
Use scissors to cut out the template. This is perfect for fine motor skills practice.
Glue the reindeer’s head to the top of the folded rectangle on the paper bag.
- Puppet: The bottom side of the paper bag has a folded flap. Place the bag on the table with the flap side up and the top open end of the bag closest to you. Glue the head to the folded flap so it will move when children put their hand in the bag.
Glue the ear pattern to the top of the head.
Glue the antler template behind the ears towards the top of the head.
Glue the reindeer’s tummy below the folded part of the bag on the front side with the head.
Glue the reindeer’s legs so they stick out towards the sides of the bag. They can also be cut and shortened or folded accordion style.
Once the glue is dry the reindeer craft is ready to be enjoyed.
