How Can I Use the Calendar?
The monthly calendar is perfect to use at home or in your classroom. You can create and build each month, by adding the year, season, month, and days, then personalize it with monthly “happenings” like birthdays, holidays, and events. You can be in charge of the calendar, or involve your children.
Why are Calendars Good for Kids?
As kids engage with the yearly calendar, they will learn so much as they interact with the calendar pieces.
- Learn how to read a calendar— an important life skill
- Focus on monthly events for an entire year (January to December)
- Learn about seasons, days of the week, and holidays
- Notice schedules and patterns.
- They will be able to count down to upcoming events, helping to manage excitement and anxiety.
How Do I Make the DIY Calendar?

Download the calendar PDF file and follow the step-by-step directions included with the template. Essentially you will print, laminate, cut, and attach Velcro or sticky tack (I used Square Velcro–and years later the calendar still works great!)
How do I Print the Calendar?
Download the PDF file. Print the calendar. I recommend printing it out on White Cardstock, to give it added strength and durability to last for years to come.
If the calendar is not printing correctly, adjust your printer settings to “Landscape.”
