How to make bubbles with only 3 Ingredients that can bounce on your hand.
Check out our new trick! We came up with our own homemade Bouncing Bubbles Recipe that doesn’t need glycerin or corn syrup and only has 3 ingredients you are bound to have in your kitchen right now! The bubble recipe makes bubbles strong enough that kids can catch them or bounce them up and down on their hand when wearing a winter glove and the bubble solution also makes nice big bubbles that are amazing.

We tried bouncing bubbles last year (Instagram Photo) with a store bought bubble solution and couldn’t get it to work and gave up. This year we figured it out, it wasn’t the glove or even us, it was the bubble solution š Now with our super strong bubbles it’s easy peasy– and great for hand-eye coordination too– yay!!! š

DIRECTIONS:
You can watch the directions or continue reading below. There are also printable directions available towards the end of this post.
Mix all the ingredients together, stir until the sugar dissolves, and then have fun blowing bubbles.

To make the bubbles bounce you need to wear soft gloves, blow the bubbles gently, and let them softly bounce on your hand. We had a bit of trouble doing this activity outside because it was windy so we took the activity inside and found out the bubbles bounced on our carpet and hair too!

Once the wind stopped outside we were able to bounce our bubbles in the backyard. When these bubbles pop the outside of the bubble remains. Little Tiger said they looked like spider webs.
Tips:
The gloves make it possible to bounce bubbles because the bubble doesn’t come in contact with the oil on our hands which breaks surface tension.
- Let bubbles gently land on your hand (with a glove) so the bubble bounces up. The bubbles can’t be hit like a ball because they will pop.
- Add a little more soap if the bubble solution seems to thin and try again.
- Some gloves work and some gloves don’t, so if it doesn’t work, try a different glove.
- If your glove becomes sticky you may need to wash and dry it and try again.
- If your bubbles blow away in the wind wait until the wind stops so you have time to let them gently fall on your glove.
- If you didn’t use Dawn dish soap and your bubbles aren’t working you may want to try again with Dawn brand dish soap. In no way am I a spokes lady for them, but for some reason in our experience it works the best. (We even keep some in our craft supply closet).
- Store the solution in an air tight container to use again.

Now we hope you have fun bouncing bubbles! Try finding more surfaces bubbles can land or bounce on.

You can have fun with this outside in the winter too, maybe with older ‘kids’ though. Go outside on a really cold day (colder than -5 Celsius) to try this. Don’t catch the bubbles but let them land. They will start to freeze and form beautiful frost patterns.
Hi Phyllis, Now I can’t wait for winter, that sounds so cool!
