Children can make a Paper Plate Shark inspired by Baby Shark with our free craft template and easy step-by-step directions.

Kids will love making a Baby Shark Paper Plate craft while singing with their favorite shark, learning about ocean animals, or while watching Discovery Channels Shark Week! Their paper plate sharks will look so cute hanging from the ceiling or swimming across the wall. The template includes all the pieces you need to add to your paper plate, just download the template, print the directions, and have a shark-tastic time this summer crafting together!

My kid’s chose what color shark they wanted to make, then I gave them the matching paper plate and printed the shark template out on the matching paper.

See all our Paper Plate Crafts Here.

Check out how cute each shark looked decorating the walls at Little Puppies’ birthday party! He loved the sharks and his cake, lol.

If you are going to match the characters from the Baby Shark song here are the colors of each character:

If you like our Baby Shark Paper Plate Craft I would love for you to PIN IT! It helps others discover it too, which helps us bring you more AWESOME CONTENT like this!

SUPPLIES:

  • Shark Template (Available to download toward the end of this post)
  • 9″ Colored Paper Plates (If you don’t have a paper plate you could cut out a 9″ circle-not included in the template)
  • Colored Paper matching paper plates (I like using Cardstock Paper for crafts that need gluing because it is stronger than printer paper)
  • Red Paper
  • Black Paper
  • White Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Black Pen (We used a permanent marker, you could also use a black felt tip pen)

DIRECTIONS:

For your convenience Printable Directions are available towards the end of this post.

Have your child select what color shark they want to make. Give them a matching paper plate and shark template.

  • Body and Fins printed on colored paper
  • Teeth-printed on white paper
  • Eye-printed on white paper
  • Mouth-red paper

When we do crafts that the kids are going to glue I like using colored cardstock because it withstands any amount of glue and the colors are generally brighter (making a prettier craft).

Cut out the eyes, mouth, and teeth. Have your child glue them to their paper plate to make the face. Each shark should have a toothy smile. Grandma, Grandpa, and Baby shark are missing teeth from the bottom, but your child can choose to decorate their shark with as many or as little teeth as they want. They will know when their shark has the “Perfect Smile.”

Now it’s time to add the fins and body. Cut the fin and body template out. Glue the top fin to the back of the paper plate at the top.

Glue the body to the back of the bottom part of the paper plate.

Glue the fins to the back of the body. One fin goes on the left side and one fin goes on the right side.

Once the glue is dry, baby shark is ready for any ocean adventure or singing time!
