As a homeschooling parent, I’m always on the lookout for curriculum that is not only effective but also easy to use. One program that has truly stood out in our homeschool journey is the All About Learning curriculum. Designed for teaching reading and spelling, this program has been a game-changer in our home.
My kids actually look forward to their lessons, which is a huge win in our homeschool routine! Here’s why I absolutely love it and why I think it’s a fantastic choice for other homeschooling families. (We’ve tried several language arts curricula, and this is the one we love!)

Why I LOVE All About Learning
- Easy to Get Started: Unlike other curricula, All About Learning includes assessments that help you determine the perfect starting level for your child. This ensures you won’t end up with something that’s too easy or too challenging. I honestly have the hardest time picking out curriculum that I don’t even know where to start.
- Easy to Use: One of the biggest selling points of All About Learning is how incredibly easy it is to implement. The lessons are scripted, which means that even if you don’t have a background in teaching, you can confidently guide your child through the material. The step-by-step instructions eliminate guesswork, making the entire process smooth and stress-free for both parent and child. I basically opened the teacher manual and followed the directions…that’s it, so easy!
- Little to No Prep Work: If you’re like me, you probably don’t have hours to spend preparing elaborate lessons. Thankfully, All About Learning requires minimal prep work. Everything you need is included—lesson plans, activity sheets, letter tiles, and flashcards. This allows me to open the book and start teaching right away without spending extra time gathering materials or planning lessons. At the most, I had to cut out a few pieces from an activity worksheet or separate flashcards…done in seconds!
- Comprehensive and Effective: The systematic program builds upon previously learned skills, reinforcing concepts in a logical, structured way. There are enough levels, you can use the same program for several grades so you won’t miss anything or cause gaps by curriculum hopping.
- Kids Like It: The lessons are short and simple, (not overwhelming for your kids or you), and the step-by-step approach helps kids feel confident as they go. Plus, there are no boring drills or busywork—just engaging, interactive lessons that feel more like games and activities! My kids love all the activities that make learning feel like play! During each lesson they get to move letter tiles around, play word games, and do hands-on exercises that are fun!
Key Features of the All About Learning Program:
- Orton-Gillingham approach, which is research-based and proven to help struggling learners
- Multisensory techniques incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning
- Mastery-based instruction, allowing children to progress at their own pace
- Engaging hands-on activities designed to build confidence and reinforce learning
Fun and Engaging for KidsA curriculum can be effective, but if it isn’t engaging, kids won’t stay interested. Thankfully, All About Learning incorporates fun activities, hands-on learning with letter tiles, and interactive games that make learning enjoyable. My kids actually look forward to their lessons, which is a huge win in our homeschool routine!
Overall, All About Learning has been an invaluable resource in our homeschool. It’s easy to use, requires little prep, is comprehensive and effective, and keeps kids engaged—everything I look for in a curriculum. Additionally, the research-backed Orton-Gillingham approach and multisensory techniques make it an excellent choice for all learners, including those with dyslexia or other learning differences.
If you’re looking for a reading or spelling program, I highly recommend giving All About Learning a try!
