Learning Ideas to Go with the Goldilocks Printables

I added the printables into our week of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Other activities we did was recreate the story with our stuffed animals, eat some porridge (cream of wheat), and compare and contrast several versions of the story. We also talked about the difference between fiction and non-fiction stories. There are so many ways to use the printables to turn story time into hands-on learning. Here are some other simple activities help build early reading, writing, and pretend play skills while kids explore the story in a fun, playful way.

Sequence the Story
Use the sequencing pages to talk about what happened first, next, and last. Retelling the story helps build comprehension and early storytelling skills.

Handwriting Practice
Let kids trace the letters or words on the worksheets. Say the sounds together as they trace to connect writing with early reading.

Big, Medium, Small Sorting
Talk about the three bears and compare their bowls, chairs, and beds. Ask kids to point to or sort the big, medium, and small items to practice early math concepts.

Act Out the Story
Use the character pages or simple toys to retell the story. Kids can pretend to be Goldilocks or the bears and recreate the scenes as they play.

“Just Right” Taste Test
Make a simple bowl of oatmeal and talk about how it feels—too hot, too cold, or just right. This adds a fun sensory element to the story.

Build a Bear House
Use blocks, boxes, or pillows to build a little house for the bears. Kids can place the characters inside and act out the story again and again.
