With Halloween nearing and pumpkins piled everywhere it was time we sat down for some hands on science and learned about the different parts of a pumpkin so we could name more than just the stem and pulp. The kid’s dove right inside their pumpkin feeling the slimy strands, picking out the seeds, and turning the activity into a pumpkin dissection. When they were done and all cleaned up they colored, cut, and glued labels to name the different parts of the pumpkin and add a page to their science notebook.

The free printable comes with two versions, one version has numbers to match to make sure the labels are placed correctly and the other version has no matching numbers for those who can read and place the labels on their own. That way you can decide which level to give your child. We also made a What’s Inside my Pumpkin Craft to add to the fun and learning. You could also try this preschool pumpkin classification and order science activity and get the kids moving with Lifecycle of a Pumpkin Yoga!
