After we had so much fun making vegetable-stamped bugs, I wanted to make some stamped Easter eggs to brighten up our walls. This is such a fun classic way to paint, and I made it easy for my toddler and preschooler to do while still getting multicolored eggs without pulling out a paintbrush.

Supplies

  • Potatoes
  • Knife/Small cookie cutters
  • Craft Paint
  • Paper Plates
  • Stickers (optional)
  • Craft paper

Directions:

1.  Use the knife and cut potatoes in half horizontally, and then cut them in half again vertically. Use the knife or small cookie cutter to cut out a design in the potato making sure not to cut all the way through. Our stripes and polka dots worked the best.

2.  Squirt some paint on a paper plates and dip the potatoes in the paint and stamp them onto your paper. The designs show up best if the potato is lightly covered with paint. Sometimes we blotted our potatoes on a blank space on our paper plates to remove some of the extra paint. Stamp one half of your egg, and line up the potato and stamp the second half.

Once our artwork was dry we glued on some dots from our hole puncher and Little Tiger added some stickers too.
