Starfish or sea stars are our favorite shapely invertebrate from the ocean and today we are sharing how to make one using paper, buttons, and our free craft template. It’s perfect to add to your Ocean Activities & Crafts, to make after a day at the beach (or aquarium), or just because you like starfish as much as we do! The buttons add a cute touch as well as keeps this craft almost mess free (no fluff or lot’s of stuff needed) and helps kids improve their fine motor skills as they place each button on their starfish. So let’s take a journey to the ocean and start crafting!
Starfish Ocean Craft for Kids
Supplies:
Craft paper
Scissors
Glue
Buttons
Star template (available for free at the end of this post)
Directions:
Print out the star template on craft paper. Cut the stars out. Little Tiger cut out her stars and I cut out Little Dragon’s stars.
Have child glue buttons to their starfish. Little Tiger glued as she placed the buttons while Little Dragon chose to place his buttons on the starfish and then glue them in place. Once the glue is dry the craft is done. We have our starfish hanging out on our table because the kids like playing with them and touching the buttons.
