My kid’s love collecting acorns because they are small, cute, and they have recently discovered they can smash them with a hammer (eek!). I had them set the hammer down and pick up a paint brush and make some acorn paper plate crafts for autumn. They are easy to make–no glue required (yay-because I hate waiting for things to dry.)

Acorn Books

The Oak Inside the Acorn (affiliate link) by Max Lucado. I love his books! They always have captivating stories with the sweetest messages!
Acorns Everywhere (affiliate link) by Kevin Sherry looks like a funny book for younger kids.

Supplies:
Craft paint-orange and brown
Paper plate
Paint brush
Brown paper
Scissors
Stapler/staples

Directions:
1.  Paint the center of the paper plate orange. Paint the outside rim of the paper plate brown on the back and front side of the paper plate.

2.  Cut along the inside of the plate until you reach half way down. It will look like a rainbow arch.

3.  Cut out an acorn stem from the brown paper and put it at the bottom of the plate.

4.  Pull the arch down and staple the stem and the arch to the bottom of the plate. I think its fun how the edge of the paper plate adds some dimension to the craft.
