When it came time to create a Christmas-themed learning activity for our Book Based Children’s Activities I instantly knew which story I wanted to bring to life — The Grinch! Inspired by the Grinch’s heart that was “three sizes too small,” I designed a hands-on math activity that encourages kids to guess, count, compare, and think logically while having festive fun.
This activity is a perfect way to mix reading and math in a playful, story-inspired way. Whether you’re teaching at home or in the classroom, it’s easy to set up, adaptable for different ages, and sure to make little hearts (and brains!) grow with excitement.

Such an awesome idea! We've never played a "guess the amount" game, this would be a wonderful start!
Hi Jennifer, thanks so much! We will be doing more guessing games in the future to help get the concept down.
Creative use of the "3 sizes too small thing" – I never would have thought of that!
Hi Emma, thanks so much! I was staring at our cookie cutters and it all just came together 🙂
