My kids have been worried about monsters lately so we needed a way to make them silly and not scary. This easy Paper Plate Craft did the trick… now they always have a monster in their room and it’s no big deal. This craft is also perfect for a less-scary Halloween Craft for little kids.

Here is a funny book by Mo Willems called Leonardo, the Terrible Monster (affiliate link)  and to help the kids even more with their monster fear, we have been watching Monsters Inc. and Monsters University… I am also trying to convince my daughter to dress up as Boo for Halloween so I can dress my husband up as Sully–I’m pretty sure the daddy-daughter duo would be adorable.

Supplies:
Paper plates (1 large and 1 small)
Craft paint
Paint brush
Scissors
Glue
Monster decorations (here are some ideas)

Directions:

1.  Have child paint the paper plates and set it out to dry.

2.  Cut the paper plates out in your desired monster shape and glue the monster together. My kiddos wanted me to cut out their monster shapes, but depending on your child’s skill level, they can always cut out their own.

3.  Finally the best part, have child decorate their monster and when they are done proudly display it.

  1. This is really fun! I like how they are all a bit different, and the excess use of eyes makes me smile as that's totally what my son would do! I have pinned this! Found via #pintorials

  2. They are amazing! So cute and great looking monsters! Thank you for sharing it with us #pintorials
