My kids definitely have their own style and love picking out their clothes all on their own (no mom input needed)! Clothes can say a lot about who we are, and even little ones like to show off their personal style.
For example, just by looking at my daughter, I can tell she’s a total fan of pink and flowers. With this “All About Me” clothes craft, kids can decorate one of six templates to show off their favorite outfits and personal style. It’s a fun, creative way for them to express themselves!
If you’re using this craft in a classroom or group setting, have the kids write their names on their creations and display them on a wall. Not only does it make a colorful display, but it’s also a fantastic icebreaker. It’s a fun way for kids to get to know each other while sharing a bit of their personality. Perfect for preschoolers and elementary age students.
First, New Clothes!
At the beginning of the school year, we headed to Kohl’s with our coupon in hand (I LOVE getting those in the mail!) and found tons of clothing inspiration for our craft—plus cute pieces the kids can wear through the rest of this warm summer and right into fall–Be inspired by Kohl’s and Carter here. You don’t have to buy a ton of clothes to have lots of great outfits because Carters has mix-and-match shirts and bottoms. Check out all the tops and all the bottoms we picked out for Little Tiger.
All the colors mix and match, so she can keep picking new combinations without ever getting bored—and everything pairs perfectly with pink, her favorite! By the way I should mention that since this shopping trip I’m starting to freak out that I am going to have a kindergartner… wasn’t she just born!?! 🙂
And for the Boy…
Little Dragon isn’t ready for school yet but his clothes come in larger sizes too (up to size 8) for those of you with bigger boys than my little guy. He loves his new camo outfits because he can match dad. The Carters collection lets us mix and match all his clothes, and it works out perfectly because no matter what he picks, he always looks cute—maybe I’m just a little biased :).
So now that we know where we like to shop and what we like to wear, let’s get crafting!
What I Like to Wear Clothes Craft
Supplies:
- All About Me Clothes Craft Template (available to download for free)
- Craft paper
- Markers
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly eyes (optional)
- Fabric or Paint
- Paint (We used watercolor paints)
Directions:
Print out the templates on craft paper. Now your child can decorate their clothes. Check out Little Tiger’s–I did mention she likes pink right!?! 🙂
Kiddos then decorate their person template with markers and googly eyes.
Glue the clothes onto their person or they could make several outfits and mix and match them by using sticky velcro (because we learned to match so well thanks to Carters and Kohl’s). You can even cut out and laminate the person pages and clothes, and use velcro to create a paper doll craft.
Finally, if they can write, have kiddos write their name on their craft and hang them up for all to see as a cute Back to School “Get to Know You” craft. My kiddos think it’s so fun to see their mini me craft hanging on the wall smiling back at them.
