Keeping Score with Skittles! Counting to 100 Basketball Game Free Printable

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SkittlesTourney #CollectiveBias

Whenever colorful candy Skittles are involved my kid’s are always willing participants to whatever we are doing. Since we have been working on higher number counting (which honestly can be a bit boring), I put together a fun basketball themed free printable to make counting to 100 a fun game. You can play our counting game while watching a basketball game with your family or grab a dice to play anytime. The different colors of Skittles also make it possible to make this a sorting exercise too. So grab your own printable game board and have a Skittles Tourney with us and Swish the rainbow, Taste the rainbow this basketball season!

Since everyone playing needs 100 Skittles, we took a trip to Sam’s Club to get a mega bag (54 oz. found in the Candy isle). My kid’s loved our shopping trip, but who can blame them…they each got their own huge bag of Skittles to take home because they are such a good price.

We didn’t even make it to the car before we opened a bag and enjoyed a treat by stirring them into our ice cream. Check out my son’s messy face… you can tell he enjoyed it for sure, lol :).

Game Time with Skittles! Counting to 100 Basketball Game Printable

Pin Me Please! 🙂
Supplies:
54 oz. bag of Skittles (Everyone needs their own pile of 100 Skittles to play)
10 Small cups
Dice (Optional if playing game while not watching basketball game)
Basketball Game Board Printable (Available to download at the end of this post)
Directions to Play Game:

1.  Put a small cup on top of each basketball on the game board.
2.  To play while watching a basketball game: Place either 1, 2, or 3 Skittles at a time on the game board according to how many points were just scored by your team. Hopefully the game you are watching is a high scoring game so you can count all the way to 100. If you reach 100, clear the board and start again.
To play with dice: Take turns rolling the dice and place Skittles on the game board according to the number rolled.
3.  Start at the number 1 and continue to the number 10. Once all 10 circles on the board have been filled, place all 10 Skittles in the number 10 cup and continue to place Skittles on the board. Once all 10 spots have been filled, place the new batch of 10 Skittles in the number 20 cup. Continue filling the game board and the cups.

  • These little bugs took no time at all to make and are a pretty self-guided craft for kids. Little Tiger finished chopping potatoes while helping me make dinner and found our bags full of lids on the counter (3 bags to be exact–no lid gets left behind in our house :). Before long I looked over and there were 3 bugs staring back at me and no mess in sight! Since the little bugs sitting on my counter make me smile when I look at them I thought you should have some too.
  • This activity helps kids learn to count to 100, introduces them to place values, helps with number recognition and number relationships while allowing them to be actively involved as they learn instead of just staring at a chart with lots of numbers which can be overwhelming.
  • We love stars around here so naturally one of our favorite things that live in the ocean is starfish aka sea stars. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and textures so we have provided you with a free craft template to make a big, medium, and small size starfish craft with your kids. We also show you how to take your craft to the next level by giving it texture and folding it to give it dimension, and if you want you can give it added color with paint. Each one will turn out amazing!
  • When this sunset Tissue Paper Craft is hung in a window it magically seems to glow resembling the beauty of a real sunset on the horizon. No glue or scissor skills are required, so this craft is easy to clean up and perfect for kids of all ages!
  • One of the most beloved children’s authors has to be Dr. Seuss who happens to have a birthday coming up on March 2nd. Did you know he wasn’t technically a doctor?– but that’s okay we still love him anyways! To start celebrating my kids picked out Horton Hears a Who!
  • The set comes in a print-in-color or a color-me (coloring book) version. You can print the set out and assemble it, or extend this activity further by letting your students color their own spinner increasing their recognition of each picture.
