Tips for Saving Money in a Digital Era - A Little Pinch of Perfect

Being the mom of a family on one income means I am in charge of stretching our money as far as it can go. I have a weekly budget of around $100 to spend on food and household items like diapers and toilet paper. It has taken me a lot of practice to get our budget for my family of 4 down to this amount (that’s only $100 per person a month!) I wanted to take a quick moment to share with you one trick that I LOVE that I think lot’s of people don’t take advantage of and that trick is digital coupons. I know that sometimes the savings a coupon offers doesn’t sound worth the time (like .35 cents off), but I have tracked my coupon savings and let me tell you it all adds up. I try to save at least $5 a week using coupons which saves $260 a year that can go towards something way more fun!

I recently signed up for the Dollar General Digital Coupons program. The cool thing about it is you don’t have to print the coupons out-that’s right, no printing, cutting, wasting ink or your time. All you have to do is click the coupons you like on your computer and go shop. Digital coupons are a fast and easy way to save! Tip: What I do is only click the items that I regularly buy for my family…this sounds like a no brainer but when I first started using digital coupons I clicked on everything…after awhile I realized it made it hard to keep track of them all and the ones I should have used expired because I forgot about it. Before I go shopping I like to refresh my memory by taking a look at what coupons I have ready to use. Tip: I also like to look at the current Ad because if you can match a coupon with a sale price your savings will be amazing! I always feel kind of sneaky when I save so much money on products that other people are paying full price for. To use your Dollar General coupons you just enter your phone number at checkout.
