When Halloween time comes along you know 5 Little Pumpkins will be sitting on a gate and rolling down the street, so before they could get very far we gathered them together and stuck them inside a bottle (gasp!). While playing with this sensory bottle kids can explore sinking and floating (will the pumpkins float?) as they watch the objects move around while singing “5 Little Pumpkins,” this Halloween season.
This post was inspired by the wonderful selection of Halloween Products offered by the Oriental Trading and their awesome Halloween costume selection. We received the pumpkins for the sensory bottle for free, in order to share this fun idea with you. The great thing is they are currently on sale for $3.78 for 24 of them so you can make 4 bottles for under $4.00.

Place 5 pumpkin erasers, and a handful of craft sticks inside the container. Fill with water and secure tightly. If you are worried about kids opening the bottle you can add some super glue to the lid for a more permanent bottle.
When we first put the popsicle sticks in they all floated. After a few days some of the popsicle sticks had absorbed enough water that they sunk to the bottom. My kid’s like watching the pumpkins roll out of sight as they sing along with the song.
