Materials

  • Colored craft papers (for the shirt and flowers)
  • Cardstock paper (Optional, to make a folding card)
  • Glue
  • Small round beads for the necklace or a store bought necklace
  • Thread or thin string (not necessary if using a store bought necklace)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Markers, crayons, or pencils
  • Tape

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare Shirt Pieces Choose some pretty colored craft paper for the shirt and flowers, then use the free template to trace and cut out the shapes (shirt, collar, neck, and flowers).
Want a simpler option? You can also use the template as a coloring page! Let kids design Mom’s shirt with crayons, markers, or pencils—it’s an easy way to personalize the craft and make it extra special. They can even decorate it to look just like her favorite shirt. Then cut out the shapes.
  • Step 2: Add the Shirt Details Glue the thin strip of paper down the center of the shirt to make it look like a buttoned-up blouse.
Glue the neck shape to the top center of the shirt, then glue the collar right underneath it so it looks like a real shirt collar.
  • Step 3: Make the Flowers Fold each flower to make vertical and horizontal creases—this helps give them a fun 3D look! Glue the two flower pieces on top of each other, and then glue the small circle in the center.
Glue the flower onto your shirt card wherever you like—on the collar, shoulder, or center.
  • Step 4: Optional: Make a Folding Card Fold an extra piece of cardstock and glue the finished shirt craft on the paper.
  • Step 5: Necklace String beads onto thread to create a necklace as a gift for mom, or attach a store bought necklace as a special gift for Mom! (You can even use buttons or pasta if you don’t have beads!)
Attach the Necklace Use washi tape or masking tape (or any tape that's easy to remove), and attach the necklace to the card.
  • Step 6: Message to Mom Once the card is dry, turn it over to write on the back, or if you completed step 7, open the card and help your child write a special message for Mom to read on Mother’s Day! Kids can also draw mom a special picture too!
