Pot of Gold Rainbow Craft for Kids (Free Printable Template)

How to paint a rainbow and use the template to decorate it for St. Patrick's Day.

Materials

  • Sturdy white paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Acrylic or washable paint (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
  • Sponge (with a straight edge the width of your rainbow)
  • Paint palette or paper plate
  • Cotton balls (optional, for 3D clouds)

Instructions

  • Print the Template and Cut out the Pieces
    Download and print the Pot of Gold & Cloud template on sturdy paper for best results.
    Carefully cut out:
    Set aside.
    Pot of gold, Gold coins, Cloud, Shamrocks (if using the cut-and-glue version)
  • Sponge Paint the Rainbow 🌈
    Use a sponge with a straight edge that matches the width of the rainbow you want to paint. Make sure it’s not too wide to fit on the template. Squeeze rainbow-colored paint onto a plate in rainbow order. Dip the edge of the sponge into the paint. Swipe the sponge in an arc from the cloud outline on the left to the gray oval on the right. Let the rainbow dry completely.

  • Glue the Printable Pieces onto the rainbow

    Optional: Add Fluffy Clouds ☁️

    Glue cotton balls onto the cloud for a fun 3D effect!
    Glue the cloud onto the left side of the rainbow (over the gray cloud outline).Glue the pot of gold onto the right side (over the gray oval).Glue on the gold coins and shamrocks.
