  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape
  • Construction papers black, yellow, and blue

Instructions

  • To make the background, paint one paper plate with blue paint and let it dry. Then add snow by painting small dots using white paint. You can use the tip of a paintbrush or q-tip.
  • Cut a second paper plate in half. For added detail, you can cut scallops to look like snow mounds.
  • Print out the template, cut out the pieces and trace them out on the appropriate colored paper or print the classroom templates out on the correct colored paper.
  • Penguin Body and Large set of Flippers- black paper
  • Penguin Tummy and inside of Flippers- white paper
  • Penguin Feet and Beek- orange paper
  • Glue the penguin together. Start with the black pieces and glue the smaller white pieces on the top.
  • Optional: To make a puppet craft so kids can move the penguin glue or tape a popsicle stick to the back of the penguin so it can move.
  • Cut a half circle from the blue paper then paint lines to make it an Igloo.
  • Glue or staple the two paper plates together. If you made a puppet, make sure to leave an opening for the penguin to go through.
  • Glue the igloo onto the blue paper plate behind the top of the snow.
  • If you are not making a puppet craft, glue the penguin onto the paper plate. If you made a puppet craft slide the penguin through the opening in the middle of the paper plates and let the kids play with it.
