Instructions

  • Paint Your Craft Sticks — Start by painting three craft sticks yellow and two craft sticks green! We used bright yellow for the corn kernels and a classic green for the husks, but kids can use any colors they like — corn actually comes in all kinds of beautiful shades like orange, red, purple, and white, so this is a great chance to get creative!
  • Let the Paint Dry — Set the painted sticks aside and let them dry completely before moving on. This is a great time to clean up brushes and get excited about the next step!
  • OPTIONAL: Cut the Tips of the Yellow Sticks — Once the yellow sticks are dry, use scissors to cut the bottom tip of each one into a gentle point. This helps give the corn that classic tapered shape at the bottom! This step can be done by a grown-up or skipped entirely to keep things extra kid-friendly — the craft turns out just as cute either way.
  • Draw the Kernel Rows & Glue — Use a brown marker to draw small scalloped or curved lines across all three yellow sticks. These little rows are what make it look just like a real ear of corn! Kids can choose to make the lines as neat or as wavy as they like and color them in to make each corn kernel — every version looks perfect!
    Line the yellow sticks together and the green sticks on top like a V and glue together.
