There is something about art with circles that is so perfect and looks amazing! The other day we felt like Painting and our bag of milk caps and lids was sitting on the counter so we grabbed them and some paint and got to work creating art with circles of all sizes and colors!

The Milk Caps and plastic lids work great as stamps for kids to paint with, so grab a plastic lid, some paint, and get ready to make art–it’s such an easy process art activity, with virtually no prep–assuming you have some lids lying around! (If you are like me, you keep a bag of lids around for just this type of occasion).

The kids had fun using the lids to squish the paint onto their paper. As the paint is squished the lids made cool patterns in the paint!  Each circle painting turned out unique with its own collage of circles. Try this Symmetry Circle Art Activity or Watercolor Circle Art idea for more fun with circles.

Tip: You can change the color paint you supply to kids to give each painting a theme or mood. Try cool colors (blues, greens), or warm colors (reds, and oranges) to go with a theme. Here is a list of Color Pallette ideas.

Supplies

  • Paper-I like to use cardstock for painting activities because the paper is thicker and holds up to a lot of paint.
  • Craft paint
  • Plastic lids
  • Paintbrush

Directions

Spread paint on the top of the lid with a paintbrush. Make sure there is plenty of paint.

Stamp the lid onto paper and pull the lid straight up to get the textured pattern.

Your kids can also try twisting the lids, sliding the lids across the paper, using the other side of the lid to create circle outlines, and whatever creative idea pops into their head!

Optional: Once the paint dries, your kids can add more details with a black felt tip pen. They can draw around the circles, adding more detail and depth to their painting.
