Apple Tree Math Activity and Free Printable

To go with our Apple Activities I made some cute numbered trees that can be used for counting, addition, fine motor skills and one-to-one correspondence. One of my favorite parts of this printable is it can be used with other themes throughout the year (so they are totally worth printing)–just change your supplies to match your theme–summer cherries, spring birds, fall leaves, you name it…

We read Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 (affiliate link)   to go along with this activity which counts 1-20 and then by 10’s all the way to 100–I love how it counts past 20. My kids think this book is just as fun as Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and ask me to read it all the time. They love finding the little zero who is searching for its own special place on the apple tree.

Supplies:
Apple Math Counting Cards (Printable is available for download at the end of this post)
Small Apple Manipulatives (buttons,  small puff balls, Plastic Counters, Glass Gems affiliate links)

Foam Dice 1-10 (affiliate link)

Apple Counting Activity

Directions: Select a number tree card, have child place 1 apple on each circle, and then have them point to each apple and count.

To make it more of a game you could have the child roll the dice to select which number card to use.

Apple Addition Activity

Directions: Place the two “How many apples are on this tree?” card in front of child. Have child roll the dice, select the tree card with the number that was rolled, and place it on the first “How many apples” card. Ask the child to place 1 apple on each circle. Repeat the process.

Have child add the apples together by counting all of them. They can use the “total” counting mat included in the printable to place the apples on to help add them up.
