Sponges are easier for kids to hold and require less controlled movements compared to a paint brush making them a wonderful addition to arts and craft time. My toddler and preschooler loved stamping away with red and green paint making festive Christmas poinsettia paintings. If you are looking for an easy Christmas craft, you just found it! 🙂

Beautiful Sponge Painted Poinsettias: A Simple Christmas Craft for Kids

These paintings would make wonderful homemade cards, just fold them in half, and write a message to a special someone to send them some Christmas cheer. You could also sponge paint a big piece of paper and use the paintings as hand painted wrapping paper—oh so fancy!

This post is part of the Kids Craft Stars monthly challenge. While you have your sponges out make sure to check out some more wonderful sponge painting activities at the end of this post.

Pin me please! 🙂

Supplies:
Sponges (affiliate link)
Scissors
Red and green craft paint
Craft paper (When we paint I like using Cardstock-affiliate link because it doesn’t get ripped from too much paint)
Glitter (optional)

Directions:
1.  Cut sponge in an almond shape like a petal.

2.  Give children sponges with red and green paint in flat trays and let them paint (I love reusing lids as paint trays). We sprinkled glitter on our paintings before the paint dried to add some Christmas sparkle.
