The other day we pulled our sleeves up and made some handprint cards in no time at all. I love how our green turtle card turned out, probably because any craft with my kid’s handprints on it melts my heart (I know I am not the only mom and dad who feel the same way :). Once the paint dried I quickly drew a turtle, heart, and wrote the words, “I Turtle-Y Love You!” and wa-la; we had an adorable personalized Valentine’s Day card perfect for friends or family.

Because we do all our crafts in advanced so we can share them here on our blog, we have already passed out some of our Valentine’s Day cards. Ms. Tiger (age 4) gets too excited to wait. She gave this card to her grandma the other day and when she did my husband said, “She gave the cutest Valentine’s card to grandma” with a pouty lip. I gathered that my husband was hoping he was going to get the turtle card. We will be making another one of these before the 14th for sure! So let’s get crafting. See all our Handprint Crafts here.

Supplies:
Green craft paint
Craft paper (We used white card stock folded)
Black pen
Red marker
Directions:
1.  Paint child’s hand green and make a hand print on the front of the card. Keep fingers slightly close together instead of spreading fingers apart as far as possible to make the turtles body.

2.  Once the paint dries, use your black pen to draw a turtle and write the words, “I Turtle-y Love You” or whatever cute and clever saying you come up with on the card. I also added a red heart using marker to make it look more Valentine’s-ish.
Drawing the turtle was really simple, just think of it like making a large D that’s laying on its side and adding a head to it. I put our card in a page protector sheet and used a dry erase marker to practice on the plastic, before writing on the actual card.
