I joined in a crafting challenge to come up with a recycled soda bottle craft. After 3 different attempts, we came up with these bright and cheery flowers and I have to say that I love them (hopefully you do too)! They are super easy to make, 3 dimensional, and use recycled crafting supplies like milk caps, pouch caps, and soda bottles. The flowers are perfect for any craft day, or I think they would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift, or could be stuck in a pot as a party table decoration.

Soda Bottle Flower Craft

RECYCLED SODA BOTTLE FLOWER CRAFT FOR KIDS: Perfect for spring flowers, Mother's Day, and recycled crafting

Supplies:
Empty 2 liter soda bottle
Acrylic paint
Paint brush
Milk cap or food pouch cap
Green straw (I used a jumbo straw)
Green paper
Scissors
Knife (optional)
Dry erase marker (optional)
Hot Glue gun (for Adults)

Directions:
1.  Carefully cut off the top and bottom of the soda bottle to make two flowers. I used a knife to poke a hole in the bottle so I could get my scissors in to cut.
2.  Cut the edges of the soda bottle pieces so they look scalloped like a flower pedal. I used a dry erase marker to draw a pattern on the bottle before making my final cuts.
3.  Bend the peddles to open up the flower, and then have the child paint the two flowers and milk caps. I used a blob of play dough to stick the top of the bottle in to make it easier to paint.

4.  Once the paint is dry, glue the back of the flower to the straw, and the milk cap to the center of the flower. Cut out leaves from the green paper, and glue them to the straw.

Bottom of Bottle: Pink Flower

Top of Bottle: Purple Flower
