My kid’s recently turned 2 and 4 and I am excited to share with you scenes from their birthday party and the yummiest part of the party; cake, cupcakes, and snowflake princess wands!

I decorate cakes one time each year for my kid’s birthday because I like to make their birthday cakes myself to add a personal mom touch. This was the first time I have used candy melts to draw designs, and I have to report it’s my new favorite way to decorate cakes. It’s so simple to use and adds adorable embellishment without adding a ton of bulk (and calories) like frosting. The matching cupcakes are super also simple to make and easy to serve!
The pretzel princess wands only take a minute or two to create and I think they look so pretty. Keep reading to find the directions and download a copy of our free printables so you can create your own Frozen party.

Frozen Winter Snowflake Pretzel Wand

A yummy and magical treat! I just love salty and sweet combinations.

Ingredients:
Pretzel sticks
Blue Candy Melts (Affiliate link)
White Candy Melts (Affiliate link)
Blue Sugar Pearls (Affiliate link)
Directions:
1.  Slowly melt the candy melts in the microwave or on the stove. Be careful not to burn them. I struggled with the blue melts for some reason. The white melts worked perfect, but I forgot to take a picture because it was a race against time trying to get everything put together.
Drizzle the candy melt back and forth down the pretzel.
At the top, use the white candy melt to form a snowflake, and then quickly add the blue round sprinkles for decoration.

Directions
1.  Slowly melt the candy melts in the microwave or on the stove.
Using the white candy melt, draw snowflakes and swirls onto wax paper and quickly add blue round sprinkles to decorate them before the candy melt hardens. Make extra in case some of them break. Set them aside.
2.  Stack your round cakes together and use the white frosting to cover them.
Use your blue frosting to decorate around the bottom.
3.  Put 2 of the sugar ice cream cones (pointy cone) on top of 1 regular cone. Put 1 of the sugar ice cream cones on top of 2 regular cones and place them on the cake with the tallest stack in the middle.
Use the blue candy melt to cover the sugar cone. Use the white candy melt to decorate the top with snow melt.
Take the blue frosting and decorate the bottom of the regular ice cream cones.
4.  Use your frosting and candy melt snowflakes and swirls to decorate the cake.

  1. Beautiful cupcakes and cake! I love how you made snowflakes and swirls using chocolate melts! Just wondering what kind of bottle you used- a plastic squeeze bottle?

    1. I used mini melting squeeze bottles that are plastic. I found them in the store next to the melts. 🙂
