The other night I needed something for the kids to do and that’s how I came up with our homemade Mini Light Table. It is perfect for creative Play In The Dark, late summer nights, or is the right size for travel and could be toted along on road trips. It’s so easy you can make one today by upcycling and using things you have around the house (no fancy electrical work required and super cheap).

The kids love playing with them and are a great way to help them unwind before bedtime.

DIY Mini Light Table for Kids

Pin me please! 🙂

Supplies:
Empty frozen topping container
Small flashlight
Light table toys
Duct tape (optional)

Directions:

1.  Place the flashlight inside the container, turn off the lights, and play! I wrapped a layer of duct tape around the container to dress it up a bit.

When kids are done they can turn off the flashlight and store all the supplies inside the container.

  1. What an awesome inexpensive way to have a light table in my home daycare. I have been pricing light tables for a while now and they are expensive. I even considered a do-it-yourself table buuut I'm not THAT good with a hammer and nails. Now, I just need some victims to eat the whip cream LOLOLOLOL

    1. Thanks so much! I have been dreaming about buying a light table too but the cost has always deterred me and same for me with the idea of trying to build one myself. (Those DIY people amaze me, lol.) Hopefully your victim doesn't suffer too much 🙂 I have two little ones who would gladly volunteer 🙂

    1. Hi Susen, That's funny…maybe I am a flashlight harder too because I really like having a selection of flashlights around the house… the problem is I really need to buy a selection of batteries to fit in all of them :).
