One of the most beloved children’s authors has to be Dr. Seuss who happens to have a birthday coming up on March 2nd. Did you know he wasn’t technically a doctor?– but that’s okay we still love him anyways! To start celebrating my kids picked out Horton Hears a Who!-affiliate link and Horton Hatches the Egg-affiliate link.  We added in some letter E activities and used my kids little hands to make a handprint Horton elephant craft that’s complete with a speck for Horton to take care of as he roams the Jungle of Nool.

To celebrate, you may also want to make your very own Cat in the Hat Craft: The Cat in the Hat Printable Hat Craft

Before we started crafting we used our sticks and curves from Handwriting Without Tears-affiliate link to build and trace the letter E. Then we went on a letter E hunt around the house and found an envelope, egg, and toy elephant.

Cover child’s hand with gray paint (I used white and black paint because we didn’t have any gray paint on hand). Have them make a handprint so their fingers are touching the green grass and set aside to dry.

Use the black marker to draw on Horton adding ears, eyes, and other markings.
