Turning stickers into reusable magnets is awesome because they can be stuck as many times as you would like (and sticking is what stickers are all about). When I saw the 3D stickers at the dollar store I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. I picked the animals, pirate, bugs, and ocean themed stickers.

I have also seen frogs and flower packs just to name a few more. I am sure you will find a set that your kiddo will like, they are all brightly colored and so adorable.  Just a heads up, although it says “sticker” on the label they don’t have adhesive on the back (which I am still confused about how they earned the title “sticker”…?). These magnets are so easy to make. A set of these 3D magnets would be fun to pack in a busy bag and bring along on a car ride, doctors visit, or use at  home for some creative play.

Supplies: (almost all purchased from the Dollar Tree)

Magnet tape or magnet sheet (I used magnet scraps from another project)
Glue gun and glue sticks
3D Stickers
Clear finishing spray (bought at craft store)

Directions:
1.  Spray the stickers with the clear finishing spray. Let it dry and repeat until there is a nice clear covering. Let the spray dry then flip the stickers over and repeat the steps on the back. I sprayed 3 coats to each side.

2. Pull the two layers apart and use the hot glue to glue them back together to make sure they don’t come apart when your kiddos are playing with them. You will see a small foam pad in between the layers. Leave it on so the sticker retains its 3D look.

Gently pull the top layer of the sticker off

Add a blob of hot glue, and put back in place

3. Use the hot glue gun to glue magnets on. Once the glue is cool, the magnets are ready to be played with. So awesome and simple right!

Glue magnets on the back

We found our small magnet boards in the dollar bins at Target for $3.00 and I have also seen magnet boards at the Dollar Tree.

Run and pick up your own set of 3D stickers so you can make a fun magnet set for your kiddos.

  1. This is fab idea. Being in the UK its Pound Shops we have – i should really hit the store and see what I can come up with!!

  2. I was always the same with stickers too – and lots of other craft supplies! I now have a massive box of them to pass on to my daughter though which I think is nice.
