Happy Monday! Now that it is August I feel like we are in a scramble to get all things summer done. We have camping, vacation, and preschool preparations still to do…it’s a mad dash at our house before the cold arrives. Thanks for joining us we are going to have a great week.

To take advantage of the 100 degree weather and our new kiddie pool we are sharing fun water play activities all week long. If you don’t have a pool don’t worry because all of our activities can be done in the bathtub, water table, or large bucket so everyone can play with us.

My kiddos love their new Dino Pool!

We are starting out the week with a balance and float water game that is super easy to set up (inexpensive too), that improves concentration, patience, and fine motor control all while having fun. The water needs to be calm during this activity so Ms. Tiger (age 3.5) and I played it when Mr. Tickles (age 1.5) was napping. The Game is to balance ping pong balls on top of floating pool noodles. It’s as simple as that!
Supplies:
1 Pool noodle
Serrated knife
Ping pong balls
Kid Pool, bathtub, water table, or large bucket
Directions:
1.  Cut the pool noodles into 2 1/2 inch thick pieces. Try and keep your cuts even so the pieces will sit flat on the surface of the water.

2.  Place ping pong balls and pool noodle pieces in the pool, add a kid, and start balancing.
We found two ways to get the ball to balance on the pool noodle:
1-Place the ball on the pool noodle, then place the pool noodle on the water or
2-Place the pool noodle on the water, then place the ping pong ball on the water
Time for fun in the pool and skill building!
She was so proud each time she was able to balance a ping pong ball and float it on the water.  It took a lot of slow movements and multiple attempts to get a ball to stay in place. I love it when games become a learning tool!
Ta da…it’s a balancing act full of fun!
