DIY Candy Necklace Kits for Kids

We made colorful candy beads with Twizzlers Twists to make a wearable craft that we could eat! I put together a little kit to bring with us in the car because Twizzlers don’t melt (cool right!?!), they are the perfect supply for this craft.

The kids are my little helpers when we go shopping because they can spot things from far away like little hawks (and because I constantly forget to wear my glasses). The nice thing is Twizzlers has a big display right next to the candy isle and their packaging is red and easy to spot (we like red around here if you couldn’t tell from our little red stars!).

I made little travel kits for the kids to bring on our car ride. As we drove they were busy threading Twizzler beads onto their necklace. The car has never been so quiet :). We got to our destination and left our kits in the car, when we returned the car smelled so yummy and nothing had melted–A perfect road trip activity.

Twizzlers Twists Candy Necklace Kit

Little Dragon was able to put a few Twizzler beads on his necklace by himself, but it took too much concentration and fine motor control. So I gave him the plastic skewers to make candy swords and he was thrilled!

We visited some friends and brought our Twizzler Candy Bead kits. All the kids sat down at the table and made a necklace. It was fun to watch them as they practiced their fine motor skills. Some created patterns while others quickly thread beads on so they could complete their necklace and start wearing and eating it.

Supplies:
Twizzlers Twists (red and rainbow)
Floss
Scissors
Plastic skewer (optional)
Container with lid

Directions:
1.  Cut up the Twizzlers into small pieces to make beads.

Little Tiger was able to cut them by herself. She loved cutting something other than paper. I had her cut them while we were home to be safe.

2.  Pull out a piece of floss and tie one candy to the end. This makes it so the Twizzler beads wont fall off as kids add more to their necklace. Assemble the beads and supplies in a container and you are ready to go.

3.  To make a necklace, have child thread pieces of Twizzler beads on the floss. Some of the pieces closed a bit when we cut them so we used a plastic skewer to open the holes back up.

4.  Once all the candy is on, tie a knot and it is ready to wear and eat! Aren’t they so pretty!
